Tony Loftus – VE3FRK

LOFTUS, Anthony (Tony VE3FRK) – Peacefully at home in Sharon on Thursday, March 5, 2009, in his 76th year. Formerly of Manchester, England. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret for 52 years. Dad to Carlo (Chris), Theresa, Mark (Carolyn), Monica (Randy), Peter (deceased), Stephanie (Gary), Louise (Colen), and Kevin (Natalie). Loving Papa to Jacob, Allison, Zachary, Anthony, Lucas, Bryce, Michael, Sarah, Angela, Jacqueline, Shannon, Rachel, Emma, Hayley, Joel, Chloe, and great-grandad to Molly. Member of the York Region Amateur Radio Club; and the Keswick and Mount Albert Radio Controlled Airplane Club. Retired York University employee of 27 years; and past president of CUPE 1356. Friends may call at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. S., Newmarket on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 17955 Leslie St. (corner of Stellar), on Wednesday at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. Geoff Smith – VA3GS

Geoff was formerly a Director and Vice-President of the Canadian Amateur Radio Federation (CARF) and was the Ontario South Director for Radio Amateurs of Canada from 2004 to 2009.

He was an active member of the York Region Amateur Radio Club (YRARC) for more than 40 years and he held many Executive positions during that period.

Professionally, Geoff was a retired high school Chemistry Teacher and Principal. He was for many years the Assistant Head-Master at St Andrew’s College in Aurora, Ontario and, subsequently, the Head Master of King’s Edgehill School in Windsor, Nova Scotia. After retirement he spent several years at Canadian College Italy in Lanciano, Abruzzo.
