The York Region Amateur Radio Club meets at 7:30 pm on the first Tuesday of each month from September to June at the Sharon Temperance Hall, 18944 Leslie St. at Mt. Albert Road, in Sharon, Ontario. Doors are usually open by 7PM to allow for setup and socializing before the formal meeting.

The meeting starts with introductions followed by reports from directors on club activities. After a short break most meetings have a short presentation on a topic related to amateur radio, although certain meetings have special programs. These are:

  • December: The annual holiday social
  • January: The mini-flea where where members may sell (or give away) surplus equipment.
  • June: The annual general meeting including election of 5 directors.

Meetings are chaired by the club president, or vice-president in his absence. Anyone who would like to deliver a presentation may contact Chris VE3NRT to discuss and/or schedule.

Upcoming meetings:

February: Lou, VE3TRY, will speak about smart cities, and the implications for amateur radio. Lou has years of experience working with municipal governments in our area and his talk is especially relevant as we work to build out an effective data network on the amateur radio bands and work with the region and local municipalities on emergency communications.

March: Chris VE3NRT will provide some insight into how an antenna’s height above ground and feedpoint position affect impedance.

April: Ron VE3CGR will talk about DX clusters.

May: TBA

June: The annual general meeting and director election.
