The YRARC Public Service Team attended the annual Mt Albert Sports Weekend 5K event this morning. Though the weather was not banner, the rain did hold off and the event was a huge success. The team once again provided communications, reporting participant status along the 5K route.

These events would not be possible for the radio club if it were not for those who step forward to participate.
On May 3rd members from the club attended the Markham Emergency Preparedness day held at the Markham Museum. The event was well attended throughout the entire day. This event was held in the transportation building along with a dozen other public service agencies. I must say that our booth was well attended.
Morse code was used as a demonstration tool, along with Go Kits and various radio equipment.
Kid-friendly handouts were created, along with buttons and stickers, helping make amateur radio more approachable and fun for younger visitors.
Special thanks go to Mike VA3MCT, Mark VA3MYH, Sam VA3RUC, Mike VE3BWV, Gary VE3FWZ, Benny VE3MUU, and Rob VE3XBI for helping make the day a great success.
Note: the handouts are available in the Documentation section.
