APRS in York Region

APRS is a simple idea. Take a piece of information, such as a short message, a GPS co-ordinate, a weather station output and using either hardware or software, send that information over the air through a transceiver and enable other radio users to receive that information, decode it and show it on their screen.
The static image on the left is a snapshot of time of information that has been sent out by ham radio operators. WX usually refers to weather info, a picture of a car usually means tracking a moving vehicle.
Its a very basic form of communication, but very powerful and highly useful during public service events and emergency communications.
